Mr. Boyett just finished cutting my live edge slabs of Maple and Pecan logs. He did a great job and has a fantastic Woodmizer machine. I highly recommend him for portable sawmilling. In my opinion, the convenience and professionalism can’t be beat!

Alan went out of his way to mill the maple logs in our backyard. It was very difficult to get his mill in and out of that area. One of the logs was a monster 9' long x 33" diameter. We got 900 board feet of beautiful maple from two trees. I will... use him again.read more

Alan knows his rig and helped optimize my oak harvest; he showed on time and worked for hours. I was looking primarily for 8x8's for anvil bases and building posts, but he provided an abundance of 2-by's from the same logs that will be useful as... well. The more help you can provide for hefting around the logs/finished cuts the better. We did over 1300 board-feet in a full day.read more

Alan did a great job for us. He was prompt, very knowledgeable, and worked hard. We sawed 23 eight foot logs in 12 hours. It took 3 of us and a tractor with forks to keep up with him. Positive experience working with Alan, the proprieter of Logs to Lumber. We had two nice oak trees taken down by a tree service, and it seemed like a shame just to turn them into firewood. Logs to Lumber was able to come out to saw them into... lumber. I had three large red oak logs (9ft length, 26-36 inch diameter) and six white oak logs (8ft length, 12-20 inch diameter), which took a little over six hours to mill. I had them cut into 8/4 boards no wider than 12 inches (no bark), but Alan can cut differently depending on what you want. He was even able to cut around a rotten section in one of the logs to utilize all of the salvagable lumber. Very happy that such a service exists in Huntsville. Would definitely use Logs to Lumber again.read more

Alan Boyett shares a passion with all those who work with wood and want to utilize the trees that are on our property for personal furniture and architectural needs. I called Alan after clearing over an acre of Red Oak and Pine, leaving me with... over 100 logs to saw. His expertise in planning, site prep, and crew needed to tackle this large project made for a very positive experience. Each day we worked Alan monitored the boards being custom cut to ensure our future lake house would have enough of each size and length of stock for a multi level staircase and railings, paneled doors, and all other trim and furniture stock. With an engineering background he is constantly planning for the maximum yield of every log his mill cuts. Alan also offered many tips and ideas for the next steps I will take to properly stack and dry the 8,500 board feet of lumber. Alan was great to work with. He studied each log to make sure he would get all the boards I wanted and to maximize the yield. He took his time getting his mill set up and it made great cuts in all the boards. We were able to cut three logs in about... 3 hours. I got two fire place mantles, boards for a large farmhouse table and benches, and lots of other straight cut and live edge boards for other projects all for less than the price I'd pay for the mantles. I highly recommend using Alan for any needs you may have with regard to creating lumber from your logs using his portable sawmill. He has a great understanding of the craft, and is more than happy to answer any questions one may have before, during... and after the job.
